This fully functional replica oil lamp (50 BC to AD 50) is hand made from the earth in the Holy Land. Just pour in the oil, insert a wick and light it.  This lamp is one of the most basic and inexpensive light source you can own.

Olive oil works best in this lamp but any cooking oil will do.  You can also use bees wax, fish oil, sesame oil, nut oil, shortening, and other similar substances.  Olive oil burns without smoke or smell. Some vegetable oils may smoke or may not burn at all (i.e. corn oil). Do not use lamp oil.  Lamp oil is more volatile and is unsafe for these types of lamps!

No Special Finish Shades of clay may vary slightly

Oil lamps are the perfect survival solution for lighting.
  • Safer than kerosene lamps
  • Safer than candles
  • No toxic fumes
  • Everyone has cooking oil on hand
  • You can even use rendered animal fat in these lamps
  • Clean and efficient
  • Burns for pennies a day
  • No expensive replacement wicks.  Just use a piece of twisted cotton cloth.
Get back to basics with a lamp like the ones people have used for centuries.

Note: Due to the porous nature of their construction, clay lamps will absorb oil for a while.  This is normal.  Some people pour melted paraffin into the lamp prior to using it to seal the pores.  This does not hurt the lamp at all.  In fact, you can even burn bees wax in these lamps if you so desire.
